What up world coming to you live…well not live…but you get the point…LOL. I have come to a new appreciation on my approaches at life. The purpose of this blog is to share those approaches with you guys. Life is like a box of chocolates and if one doesn’t seize the moment of opportunity your chances will melt away. Not to say that you can’t restructure the chocolate and freeze it but it will not be as good as the first chance you had with that chocolate. I have heard this and I’m sure you guys remember this from “Forest Gump”. In reality, this statement is how life is. This concept can be applied to many different things. I’ll give an example of how it relates to relationships and opportunity.
When it comes to relationships, how many times have you met or had a person that you thought was really attractive, had positive goals lined up for themselves, and everything else you looked for in a person. (*Note I didn’t say the perfect person*) However, you remain cautious and kept that person as an option. Options only work well when you have an abundance of a good thing. However, people most definitely aren’t the same. Maybe share common traits but most definitely are not the same. Not to say you won’t come across another but it’s still up to chance. I’m a sole believer that God places people in your life for a reason. That reason is for you to ask God to help you understand “why”. Well as the song by Atlantic Starr “When Love Calls " go, you’d better answer. Chances are that you may not ever get that opportunity again. So in relation to the previous paragraph, love is the chocolate. By letting that love sit out it melts away not saying you can’t mold that love back to a previous state but it will never be like the original. So if you guys are in relationships apply it by savoring the love you have and don’t let it set and melt away because again restructuring that love will not be like the original.
When it comes to opportunity, they come and go. But sometimes we have to take it and step out on faith. I was always told that God would never steer me wrong and I haven’t been let down yet. My personal revelation… After graduating from Jackson State University, I never would have thought in a million years that I would be doing the things I do such as traveling, working at a radio station, meeting inspirational people and doing quite well on my own. I finished with my undergraduate degree in biology and was solely focused on moving back to New Orleans and staying close to family and making it work for myself. Well after two years of trying to make something work and all attempts failed. I had the conversation with my dad and he told me to spread myself around and see what happens. I was a bit nervous to be far from family, especially after Katrina. So I applied to some school being: Hampton University, Howard University and Clark-Atlanta University. The first one I applied was Hampton University and was accepted without putting in my other apps. Although doubtful about leaving, I put my trust in God that everything would work itself out and since then, God has been blessing me while being here in Hampton. Not a day goes by that I think, “Man! What if I would have not left and fought to make a situation work and it was always in God’s plan for me to leave and stand alone?” By me seizing that opportunity I prayed and asked God to help me make it work. Had I not taken my chocolate (being opportunity) and let it set it would have melted, not saying that I would not have been able to structure it like the original but I love the flavor of this one. J Stay positive, Love, Peace, Think Good Thoughts Always and God Bless.
