I see the haziness in your story.....

First I would like to state my position on hazing.  I am totally against hazing in any form or fashion.  Grant it I’ve never been in a position to be hazed.  I know people that have been in the situation and I understand the reasons behind it.  I still don’t condone such behavior.  Frats, sororities, sports and bands all have the same type ritual, which I’m pretty sure you guys are well aware of.  Now that my position is clear on the matter, I would like to talk about the recent story in the news about the guy from FAMU.  I see a lot of inconsistencies in this story.  The first inconsistency is that it’s a black school under the scrutiny.
Okay I understand that it’s a well known fact the historically black schools have a notorious history for such behavior but what about these other universities.  People don’t just join their band.  I’m more than sure there is hazing going on at those big universities as well.  On my drive back from Jackson, I heard some reporters on Fox XM station going in on FAMU.  I understand you have a job to do but certain things don’t need to be overlooked.  This is something that goes on at every level which starts with a simple philosophy “we pick on the new cats make them respect us because it was done to us”.  It’s not just a black school thing kids do this too it’s just called something different “Bullying”.  I’m not anti-white school nor am I pro black school on this issue.  I just want things to be on an even playing field an evil is an evil.  It’s not more of an evil because of the clad of people.
The second inconsistency I see in the story is the drum major dying from hazing.  I may be wrong but I thought it was the drum majors that do the hazing.  From the reports that I heard, the guy was a drum major.  That doesn’t make any sense to me.  I thought that was for the new people.  While listening to the interview, it became apparent that the parents are trying to sue the school.  Okay I don’t think you get hazed as a drum major, so all you looking for is money out this deal.  I mean come on lets be real, I think the guy was hazed but that was upon him initially trying to join the band.  My point that I want to relay over is that this indeed is a sad event, however there is most definitely more to this story.  I do not believe you on this one Fox, or anything else for that fact. Until the next blog peace, love, God Bless and always think positive thoughts.
