Corn Teenin

Peace and good evening beautiful people the current time is 8:18pm. I've been in my Stevie Wonder bag lately. The current song being played through the speakers is "Jesus Children of America" by Stevie Wonder from the Innervisons album released in 1973. The night is a cool one, about 65 degree. Very pleasant. First, I hope everyone is in great spirits and avoiding the avalanche of depressing media circuits keeping the overall moral low.  As per usual, I wanted to talk about the norms such as music, my thoughts and conclude with some suggestions of things to get you through.

I've been cycling back and forth through a few albums. Since the D-Nice and Questlove live DJ sets, I've been into the 70s and 80s R&B/Soul bag. I have also developed a new found appreciation for Prince. Very unpopular opinion at this point, I've always been a Stevie Wonder kid. I've always liked some of his songs. After doing the knowledge on his work and talent, I understand why he's regarded as one of the dopest. His catalog is actually pretty ill. So to those who may be vetted in Prince's catalog, I'm here now rather later than never lol.

So the new projects that I've been vibing to definitely Conway The Machine, Estee Nack, Royce and Jay Electronica. For this to be a prequel to Conway's album to be released later this year, I'm definitely regarding him as one of the illest. He has a consistent catalog to match. I'm still hoping that Westside Gunn doesn't stick to his one more album statement. I hope he makes appearances on future projects. So many may or may not know who Estee Nack is but he's of a similar ilk. He is featured on Westside Gunn's Hitler Wears Hermes 7 album "Banana Yacht". You will not be disappointed with his catalog. I kinda slept on Royce's project just to miss the group think wave so I could thoroughly enjoy it. It is in fact a very solid project. I was late to Royce because of the connection to Eminem, and didn't get into him until he joined Slaughterhouse. (No shots to Em just not the biggest fan) I also didn't care for "Rock City". He is very underrated. As for Jay Electronica, after sticking with the project for a while now, I still enjoy it. Slightly underwhelming, only because one of the songs on the album is ten years old and Hov definitely bodied the album. I still feel like Jay Elec held his own against Hov and made a good balance.

Due to the current chain of events, I would encourage embracing a hobby and challenging yourself to looking at things optimistically. I wrote an entry some years back talking about how media plays on fear with total disregard of being accurate. Fear translates to an unhealthy addiction to fear of missing out which equals revenue by views. I've come to terms with dedicating maybe an hour or so a week of getting updated. I've scaled back on social media for the most part to refine my own thoughts... but I'm not gonna miss out on a few epic live concerts and DJ sets. I've also gone back to the basics with everything from exercising to even coloring and reading more. After doing the knowledge, those things are actually great for mental development. Stay positive, keep the mind occupied constructively and continue to practice safe aseptic techniques.
